Woman hit, robbed while putting child in car in LI parking lot; suspect sought: police
COMMACK, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — Suffolk County Police said a woman was assaulted and robbed while putting her 2-year-old child in the backseat of her car in a Commack shopping center in early February, releasing new video of the incident.
On Feb. 15, around 2:30 p.m., the man struck the woman in the head from behind while she was attending to her daughter in the Michael's parking lot at 30 Veterans Memorial Highway.
Authorities said the suspect then displayed what appeared to be a gun and ordered the woman into the backseat.
He then took her cellphone and demanded her keys. However, after the woman pressed the panic button on the key fob, the man fled eastbound through the parking garage with the woman's phone.
Police said the suspect is described as 6 feet tall and approximately 50 years old. He was wearing a green sweater and a mask over the bottom of his face.
