Over the last year, a disturbing trend is the growing incidents of violence and hate against the Asian community in New York City.  As the city reopens after the pandemic shutdowns, politicians and law enforcement are taking steps to stop the attacks directed at Asian New Yorkers. On this episode, 1010 WINS reporter Al Jones is joined by guests to discuss how New York City is reacting to and trying to stop the acts of violence, hate, and rhetoric against the Asian community. Our first guest John Liu is a long-time New York City politician and current state senator. He shares his experiences and what he has seen in the city. We'll also speak with Carmelyn P. Malalis, the Chair and Commissioner for the New York City Commission on Human Rights, to hear about what they have been trying to do as a city organization to help stop anti-Asian hate. Commissioner Malalis also shares her experiences dealing with racism and hatred.
