John Mara is sticking with Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll, and Brandon Tierney strongly disagrees with the decision after a miserable three-win season for the Giants.
After hearing Mara’s comments about the decision, BT is even more down on Big Blue’s future, and he can’t believe the once-proud franchise has fallen this far to where one of the worst seasons in franchise history doesn’t result in major changes.
“I don’t even know what the hell the Giant Way is,” BT said. “The erosion of the Giants is the saddest disintegration of any team in our city for a long time.”
Big Blue used to be one of the premier franchises in football, but aside from an outlier playoff berth in Daboll and Schoen’s first season, the organization has known nothing but losing and frequent turnover at leadership positions for the past decade. To go from consistent playoff contenders and multiple Super Bowl titles to double-digit losing seasons, it is a fall from grace that BT still can’t fully wrap his head around.
“The Mets don’t have the history that the Giants do. The Yankees are always relevant. The Knicks are always overrated. In our own minds, we always overstate who the Knicks are,” BT said. “But the Giants, along with the Yankees, were the bastion, they were the compass to competent and productive. They used to lead the way. It was always the Giants and the Yankees, and everyone else in this city was following them.
“Now, the Giants are the Jets.”
