C-Mac: Leon Rose is 'by far' best executive in New York sports right now

After Leon Rose made a blockbuster splash on Tuesday night by acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Nets, C-Mac credited the Knicks executive for being the best in New York sports in his role, by a wide margin.

“They are now a perennial playoff team, and I think you can make a strong case that they have the second best roster in the Eastern Conference,” C-Mac said. “That’s not easy to do. And his player evaluation has been spot on.

“Look at all the additions he’s made to this team. The Knicks were mocked on all the talking head shows that [Jalen Brunson] was their big move…and yet he’s emerged to become a superstar…the evaluation on him, on DiVincenzo, Josh Hart came over here and played the best basketball of his career, OG Anunoby came over and transformed the team immediately. Leon Rose is by far the most effective executive in this town right now. It’s not close.”

C-Mac has been a big Brian Cashman supporter in recent years, but says Leon Rose has been a step above the Yankees GM, has clearly been above Joe Douglas, as the Jets haven’t done anything yet, and Chris Drury, while building a strong Rangers team, hasn’t made the kind of moves that Rose has made to turn the Knicks around.

“Brian Cashman doesn’t come anywhere near being as successful as Leon Rose has been over the last few years,” C-Mac said.
