C-Mac goes off on Jets coaching staff for lack of preparation in Broncos loss
Chris McMonigle thought Sunday’s performance against the Broncos was the type that the Jets had put behind them heading into this season.
But Gang Green was back to looking inept on offense, even unprepared in many facets, and lost at home to a Denver team that was believed more likely to be competing for a top draft pick than a playoff spot this season.
For C-Mac, it felt all-too familiar, and felt like a sign that the talent on the roster may not be able to overcome the coaching staff’s shortcomings.
“Yesterday was a day we have seen over and over for the Jets. It was extremely frustrating on many levels,” C-Mac said. “The fears of this team heading into this season…where they’re supposed to be a playoff team for sure…what could hold them back? The biggest uncertainty was its coaching staff.
“Yesterday was a disaster, and the same crap we’ve seen over and over again…this team is continuously poorly prepared. First, there was the penalties, which we’ve seen forever…taunting, running into the kick returner, just horrible penalties that cost them the game.”
Pre-snap and procedural penalties killed New York on Sunday, as the Jets committed a total of 13 penalties that cost them 90 yards. The offense failed to find the end zone all afternoon, and the offensive line looked shaky, allowing Aaron Rodgers to be sacked five times. For C-Mac, it felt like he was watching last year’s group with Zach Wilson under center.
“What kind of offensive game plan did they come up with in a week and a half? That’s the game plan you provide in a week and a half of preparing for a lousy Broncos team?” C-Mac said. “Against a quarterback who was inept in this game?
“What is Nathaniel Hackett and Robert Saleh doing?”
