C-Mac would 'absolutely' take Aaron Judge's Yankees career over Alex Rodriguez

As C-Mac discussed the greatness of Aaron Judge, a caller wondered who he would give the edge to in their Yankees career when comparing Judge and Alex Rodriguez.

C-Mac said he was easily taking Judge.

“Behind Judge, absolutely,” C-Mac said of Rodriguez. “He came up at 18 years old and played 22 years…he had seasons that were unbelievable. Right now, he’s had the better career, but he was a different kind of ballplayer. In ’96 as a 20-year-old, he hit .358 and won a batting title. In 1996, you could hit .358. it was a different game.

“My claim isn’t that he’s had a better career or will have a better career. My claim is he is the better Yankee.”

Judge obviously won’t catch Rodriguez’s career numbers due to longevity, but C-Mac would take Judge’s Yankees career over Rodriguez, and says he would put Judge’s two best years (2017 and 2022) over Rodriguez’s two MVP campaigns (2005 and 2007).

“In a Yankee uniform, he won two MVPs. In 2005, he hit .321, had an OPS of 1.031, hit 48 home runs and drove in 130. And the big year of 2007, hit .314 54 [home runs], 156 [RBI],” C-Mac said, noting that Judge had better numbers aside from RBI. “[Rodriguez] also just had a better lineup. He had Murderer’s Row plus Cano…Judge has had nowhere near the same caliber lineup. The RBI numbers, they’re inflated. I’m not dismissing RBI, but it’s sort of a team stat.

“It’s the eye test and some of the numbers…I love Alex Rodriguez, and I’ll defend Alex Rodriguez. But I’ve watched them both, and in my mind, Aaron Judge has been the better Yankee.”
