Congratulations to our good friend Craig Carton, now a Hall of Famer!
The New York State Broadcasters Association announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2024 on Monday, and among the many inductees is Craiggy, who spent a decade as part of our Boomer & Carton morning show and three more with Evan Roberts in the afternoons.
Craig still has a presence on our airwaves, hosting “Hello, My Name is Craig” every Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., and he will from time to time call in to talk to Boomer or Evan when the need arises.
From the NYSBA release:
Carton is best known for his 10 years as co-host of WFAN New York’s “Boomer and Carton” morning show with Boomer Esiason, and three years co-hosting “Carton & Roberts” in PM drive with Evan Roberts. Carton arrived in New York in 2000 following stops in Buffalo, Cleveland and Denver, and at Philadelphia’s WIP where, as “The Kid,” he became the youngest person in the country to host a daily sports talk radio show in a major market.
Carton’s delivery on sports radio made him a pioneer of the “guy talk” brand, which led to his crossing to television, hosting programs for Spike Network and currently “The Carton Show” on Fox Sports 1. He continues to host “Hello, My Name is Craig,” a public service show focused on gambling addiction, on WFAN.
Craig, along with recently-retired Buffalo Bills broadcaster John Murphy and four others, will be honored and inducted into the Hall of Fame at NYC’s Rainbow Room on October 23.
