Mets TV announcer Gary Cohen went viral on Tuesday night as the Mets were sitting through a rain delay for their game against the Tigers at Citi Field.
The SNY broadcaster clearly didn’t love sitting through the delay, which eventually became a postponement, which was made apparent when he rolled his eyes in disgust after believing the cameras turned off on him after making a report from the booth with Keith Hernandez.
“We’ll be here when the game starts and until then, you guys just get the snacks that you can and try and keep nourished,” Cohen said, and held a smile for several seconds until he believed that the broadcast cut away to the next shot. Instead, fans saw Cohen quickly break his smile and roll his eyes as he dropped his microphone to his waist.
The frustration was understandable, as the Mets tried to get the game in despite the forecast seemingly showing that playing a full game would be nearly impossible. The team believed there was a window from 7-9 p.m.
to get the game in, but instead, the game was eventually postponed.
