WFAN's Gregg Giannotti, Ann Liguori inducted into Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame as part of Class of 2024

Congratulations to two of WFAN’s own, Boomer & Gio co-host Gregg Giannotti and Talking Golf host Ann Liguori, as they were inducted into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday night, May 30, as part of the Class of 2024!

Gio and Ann were two of 23 inductees in the class, which was headlined by legendary Mets first baseman Keith Hernandez and included, among notables, two-time NBA Champion Danny Green and the late Howard Gershberg, a former MLB and St. John’s pitching coach and East Islip HS coach.

Gregg Giannotti is, as you know if you are an avid Boomer & Gio listener, perhaps the best second-stringer in the history of the Bellport HS football team…but seriously, Gio grew up in Bellport and began his radio career at WFAN as an intern in 2005; nearly two decades later, he once again calls Suffolk home as he is now in his seventh year alongside Boomer Esiason on WFAN’s morning show after stops in Pittsburgh and on what is now the Infinity Sports Network as a national host.

“It was an honor to stand beside Keith Hernandez, Danny Green, Ann Liguori, and many other tremendously successful people from Suffolk County tonight,” Gio told WFAN.com shortly after his induction. “I’m very proud and very humbled. Thanks to Chris Vaccaro and the Suffolk County Hall of Fame for this honor.”

Ann Liguori, who has also won a prestigious Gracie Award this year, has been a stalwart voice on The Fan since nearly the beginning, and is currently on our air with Talking Golf every Sunday morning from April-September. Originally from Ohio, Ann has long called Westhampton home, and holds several events out in Suffolk each year with her Ann Liguori Foundation to raise money for cancer prevention and care – with some of those proceeds going to KiDS NEED MoRE, a camp held on Shelter Island each summer for young people with cancer and their siblings.

“To be inducted into this Hall of Fame is a dream come true! I’m a small-town girl from Ohio, but I’ve lived in Suffolk County since the 1990s, and I love it here,” Ann said during her induction speech. “Look at some of the names in this Hall of Fame, over 400 incredible names…I’m so honored and blessed.”

Per their website, “The Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame is a non-profit established in 1990 to honor outstanding people who have made substantial contributions to athletics in Suffolk County. The Hall of Fame has exhibits at Fairfield Properties Ballpark (home of the Long Island Ducks), the Town of Huntington Town Hall, the Section XI offices in Farmingville, Long Island Sports and Rehabilitation in Holbrook, and Long Island MacArthur Airport.”

Congrats to Gio, Ann, and all the inductees!
