Much of the talk after game one between the Knicks and Pacers on Monday night was about the illegal screen call on Myles Turner at the end of the fourth quarter, when Indiana still had a chance to take out New York in the series opener.
But Jerry Recco didn’t want to hear about the officiating being the reason why the Knicks won, especially because the illegal screen call was the right one.
“Really good teams do really good things, make big shots, and yeah, get some breaks along the way,” Jerry said. “The kick ball, terrible call. They admitted that. But the offensive foul is an offensive foul. That is a moving pick. You want to tell me that you don’t call it in that spot? Fine…but he is clearly not set.”
Gio agreed that the call may have been the right one, but the timing of it was questionable, and a call he would not have been happy with had the tables been turned.
“If that happened to the Knicks, I would be furious,” Gio said. “There was a bunch of breaks in this game that I could have seen go the other way.”
