Josh Hart calls out NBA for leaving Tom Thibodeau off Coach of the Year finalists
The NBA released its finalists for season awards on Sunday, and Tom Thibodeau was a noticeable absence from the Coach of the Year candidates.
Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault, Minnesota's Chris Finch, and Orlando's Jamahl Mosley were the three selected as finalists, and Knicks starter Josh Hart was not happy about it.
Hart, who has played under Thibodeau since being traded to New York prior to the deadline last season, took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to call out the snub.
"Fifty wins, second seed with an injured roster for half the season and not a Coach of the Year candidate…" Hart wrote.
Thibodeau did indeed lead the Knicks to their first 50-win season in over 10 years, all while missing All-Star Julius Randle since January with a season-ending shoulder injury, All-NBA defensive caliber center Mitchell Robinson for months, and impact trade acquisition OG Anunoby for weeks with an elbow injury. Still, the Knicks managed to capture the second seed after playing like one of the best teams in the NBA when at full strength in January.
Thibodeau and the Knicks currently hold a 1-0 series lead on the 76ers heading into Monday's game two at Madison Square Garden.
