Keith doesn't believe Tommy DeVito will be able to replicate last year's magic

The Giants are going with Tommy DeVito against the Buccaneers, as Big Blue will try to reignite the DeVito magic that gave the fanbase a brief spurt of excitement when the New Jersey native led the team to three straight wins after Daniel Jones went down with a season-ending ACL injury.

As DeVito’s return inches closer, Keith McPherson believes that the DeVito magic has likely run out, and he doesn’t see the Giants offense looking much better than how it did with Daniel Jones under center.

“Are they playing this guy because he gives them the best chance to win,” Keith said. “Or are they playing this guy because they know they’re not gonna win either way…and be in the best spot to draft Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward?”

Regardless of what the Giants’ belief is, Keith believes Big Blue will likely continue its drop to the bottom of the standings with DeVito as the starter, and therefore rise to the top of the draft boards and finally have the ability to draft a top quarterback. That will be New York’s best path forward, as Keith is convinced DeVito is not a diamond in the rough.

“In my heart if hearts, I believe he was a one-trick pony last year,” Keith said. “He was a great story last year when he burst onto the scene. The sequel is almost never better than the original.”
