McMonigle sees Blue Jays making legit contract offer to Juan Soto

According to multiple reports, the Blue Jays are planning on making a big push for Juan Soto, and they will be meeting with the free agent superstar this week in California.

Toronto tried to make a big push for Shohei Ohtani last offseason, and Chris McMonigle believes their interest in Soto is real, as the Blue Jays will try to pluck Soto from New York and make the former Yankee a division rival.

“I think they’re desperate to make a big splash,” C-Mac said. “I think they’re a bunch of frauds. I’ve never trusted the Blue jays. I think the team is soft...but, I do think they have money and are looking to make a splash.”

The Yankees and Mets are considered the front runners to land Soto, and while C-Mac believes the Blue Jays will make a legitimate push to sign the 26-year-old, he isn’t sure if Soto will see them as an attractive enough destination to turn down other offers that might be similar, even if they are a little lower in financial value.

“I don’t know if Juan would consider going to Canada and to the Blue Jays,” C-Mac said. “I would be really surprised if we are looking at anyone other than the Yankees or Mets, but I have no doubt that the Blue Jays are a legitimate threat that who would be willing to pay Juan Soto close to $700 million.

“But I think it’s gonna be the Yankees or Mets. I feel strongly about that.”
