Noah Syndergaard is reportedly trying for an MLB comeback.
According to multiple reports, the former Mets pitcher has signed a minor-league contract with the lowly White Sox, and has reported to the team’s complex in Glendale. Syndergaard, who has battled several injuries over the years, hasn’t pitched in a big-league game since the 2023 season, when he split time with the Dodgers and Guardians.
The former All-Star was released by Cleveland shortly after being traded there from LA during the 2023 campaign. The 33-year-old has posted a 4.99 ERA since returning from Tommy John surgery, and has never been able to rediscover his pre-surgery velocity.
Originally seen as one of the top young arms in the sport and part of a hyped Mets pitching core that also included the likes of Matt Harvey, Steve Matz, and Zack Wheeler, Syndergaard is now hoping to make his comeback with one of the worst teams in the sport.
Syndergaard was recently announced as one of the pitchers that will participate in the Mets Alumni Classic Game at Citi Field in September.
