As the Giants get set for part two of the Tommy DeVito era, BT and Sal agree that it’s time to bring some fun back to New York football.
With Big Blue and the Jets both enduring disastrous seasons, Sal says fans in the area can use a break from their continued misery, and instead of following Tankathon and seeing who could be the next potential savior, why not have some faith that the savior could be under center against the Bucs this weekend?
“Have fun with it! You’re a sports fan. Have fun with it!” Sal said.
“They need the Cowboy game on Thanksgiving. They stink, they have a backup quarterback, and they’re in disarray...it’s gonna be important to the owner and to Tommy DeVito, and if you’re rooting for Tommy DeVito, you should be rooting for a win.”
Last year, DeVito took the fanbase by storm by rattling off three straight wins, which was one of the most unlikely stories in the league but also took New York out of the running for a top quarterback in the draft. That could happen again if DeVito has success, but Sal says the focus should be on the present right now, not the future.
“I think Tommy DeVito can make football fun again for Giants fans,” Sal said. “That’s why I try to get rid of that tank thought and worrying about the draft. As sports fans, there’s so much misery. Even in success, we find the misery. Let’s not do that with Tommy Cutlets. Let’s enjoy the fun...if they lose, so be it. But I want to enjoy this ride and hope that he’s gonna bring an energy and an element of fun where maybe the Giants can compete and score some touchdowns over the next couple of weeks.”
