Thunder and PT want to celebrate Minnesota by sharing fun facts about the state with listeners on 102.9 The Wolf ... powered by Mr. Rooter Plumbing.

Today's Wolf Country Original is anchored on the coast of Lake Superior... it's the Split Rock Lighthouse!

The Split Rock Lighthouse, completed in 1910 and operated until 1969, was established to improve maritime safety along the rugged and rocky North Shore of Lake Superior. There are over 1,000 watts of power lighting up the shore from the lighthouse.

The Split Rock Lighthouse is known for its picturesque setting atop a cliff overlooking Lake Superior. Its iconic architecture and scenic location make it a popular landmark and a symbol of Minnesota's North Shore. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 2011.

The lighthouse is now managed by the Minnesota Historical Society and welcomes many visitors each year to experience the twilight latern tour.
