Almost made it to the big leagues

Brooks has always been quite an athlete. His position? Mostly left field. He was signed to a Minor League deal with the San Diego Padres in 1999 and attended Spring Training. In 2000 he signed with the Mets, followed by a final attempt at the majors in 2004 with the Kansas City Royals.
In 2000, he attempted to donate part of his liver to fellow country artist, Chris LeDoux

Garth Brooks stepped into action after learning his friend and fellow Country star, Chris LeDoux was diagnosed with a disease in his bile ducts. Brooks volunteered to donate pat of his liver to LeDoux, but turned out not to be a compatible match. Chris eventually found a match which provided him four more years at life.
He was the 65th member inducted into the Grand Ole Opry

Garth Brooks was officially inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on October 6, 1990. He was inducted by Johnny Russell.
Met his first wife, Sandy Mahl, after kicking her out of a bar

The couple, who wed in 1986, originally met as Garth was working as a bouncer and tasked with escorting her out of the bar. "My job was to escort people out that caused disturbances," Brooks told MF. "She beat me about nine times close to hell that night, too. I finally got her outside and I just kept noticing how cute she was … I asked her out. She told me to drop dead." After 15 years of marriage they divorced. Brooks wed fellow country star Trisha Yearwood in 2005.
