Hours following the lawsuit making headlines on October 3, Brooks responded to the allegations, informing fans he’d been "hassled to no end,” by this individual “with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars.” Brooks says dealing with the allegations, which he says are false, “has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face."
Last month, Brooks filed his own lawsuit against the individual accusing her of "extortion and defamation of character.” At the time, all documents were filed anonymously "for the sake of families on both sides,” however, now everything is out in the open and posing a major threat to Brooks’ 35 year career filled with hits and major philanthropic efforts.
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of—ugly acts no human should ever do to another,” Brooks said in a statement responding to the claims and revealing he’d previously filed his own lawsuit against the individual.
He continued, “I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward,” “It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
The lawsuit filed on October 3 against Brooks claims he aggressively raped the woman, who says she was Trisha Yearwood's makeup and hairstylist for years before being hired to work for Garth in the same role. In 2019, the stylist claims she traveled solo with Brooks to Los Angeles for A GRAMMY tribute to Sam Moore. Ahead of the tribute, she states Brooks brutally raped her in a hotel room and then went on with business as usual for the performance. She also is accusing Brooks of exposing himself inappropriately to her at his home and touching her inappropriately while she styled his hair and make-up on separate occasions.
This is a developing story.
