Audacy Country stations are excited to shine a light on the best emerging artists in music with LAUNCH. Meet Hudson Westbrook, a fresh, distinct new voice from deep in the heart of Texas, and the latest Audacy’s LAUNCH artist, presented by Macy’s.
Westbrook started his rise to Country music stardom while still enrolled at Texas Tech University, when his song, "Take It Slow," made a viral splash for the Stephenville, Texas native. But his traditional tastes and already seasoned songwriting skills were just scratching the surface, soon to break through the ceiling completely with his first single to Country radio, "House Again."
"So funny story behind 'House Again,' was I was sitting in bed the night before we wrote it, and I just remember walking around the kitchen and the idea of 'the kitchen used to be a dance hall,'" Westbrook says of the song filled with imagery of abandon love. "So I kind of looked around the house that night and kind of pulled little pieces from it, and then they all ended up playing a part in the song."
"House Again" has announced the arrival of Hudson onto the Country scene, and although the song is a vulnerable and emotional one, he hopes you take from it whatever you need. "Everyone's different interpretations, or what they might relate to might be different, but I feel like a song means something different for everyone, and I feel like that's the whole point of putting them out."
"'House Again' is just about something I experienced at the age of 7 and now I'm 20 and I have a better, I guess, perspective on what leaving a place, or what divorce might look like, or what things mean to me." Hudson reveals. "Just all those types of things leaving your life and taking another road. And so I feel like 'House Again,' it just means leaving home and leaving what you always knew."
