While there's a lot to love about Netflix's "Stranger Things," it wouldn't all hold together without Eleven at the center of it all.
Originally a subject in Project MKUltra experiments, Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, escapes Hawkins Laboratory and enters the worlds of Mike, Dustin and Lucas as they look for their missing friend Will Byers.
What follows is a clash between the everyday and the supernatural, as Eleven tries to navigate her telekinetic powers while acclimating to life in normal society, with a lot of Eggos and nosebleeds throughout the journey.
To celebrate Brown's sweet 16 (her birthday is Feb. 19, 2004) and all that she's gone through to play the beloved character, these are some of Eleven's best moments on "Stranger Things."
When she is disguised in a wig and dress
And just like that, "Stranger Things" made it even easier to be Eleven for Halloween. Her season 1 disguise, intended to help El blend in at school, is an homage to the one that Gertie makes up the alien in in "E.T."
The Eggos
Pretty much every Eggo crunch in the show is perfect. Eleven's affinity for the freezer-aisle treats isn't just because they're delicious. They were her main choice of sustenance ever since Mike snuck them down to her when she was hiding out in his basement.
Every adorable Hopper moment
Every moment between Hopper and Eleven is tender, even when it's funny or when they butt heads. But by the end of season 3, when we were still uncertain about Hopper's fate, nothing hit quite like the emotional letter that Hopper leaves El, reminding her that when life hurts you, "remember the hurt. The hurt is good."
When she goes through her punk phase
Eleven goes through a rebellious phase in season 2, attempting to explore her identity through radical changes like slicking back the hair, black eyeliner and looking vaguely punk.
When she flips the van with her mind
This moment is one of the most blatant, and brilliant, displays of Eleven's telekinetic powers. After Eleven and the gang reconciled with an embrace, Eleven helped the crew narrowly escape by flipping an agents' van out of their way.
When El and Mike have their first kiss
It doesn't get much more adorable than Mike going in to kiss Eleven because he doesn't know how to tell her he likes here.
