This isn't your normal kind of meditation, but perhaps it could sway you into a new, rocking direction.

Buddhist monk/YouTuber Kossan1108, real name Kazutaka Yamada, has a different approach to finding enlightenment. The musician has been using his traditional percussion instruments to record "covers" of some of the most famous rock songs in your playlist, giving them a new life and unique sound.

His latest video cover, AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" begins with Yamada's quiet contemplation of the opening riff. He then turns full Brian Johnson for the vocal parts while banging away on a wooden drum and metal gongs. Once the song ends, Yamada puts down his mallets, removes his headphones, and quietly meditates for another three full minutes.

This isn't Kazutaka's first foray into the realm of rock. He's also provided cover versions of Judas Priest's "Breaking The Law," Queen's "We Will Rock You," The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" and "All My Loving," Metallica's "Enter Sandman," and The Ramones' "Teenage Lobotomy."

Take a look at all of Kazutaka's cover videos and performances of traditional songs right here. Namaste.
