7 Rock Icons with surprising movie cameos

If you blink, you might miss them

Blink and you may miss it.

Listen to your favorite Rock music now on RADIO.COM.

While they may be known for taking command of the world’s biggest stages leading singalongs with tens of thousands of people, several rock icons have leaned into their subtle side by making an unheralded appearance on the big screen.

Without the keen eyes of moviegoers, most of us would have probably missed the cameos from these legendary artists. Here’s a look at seven rock icons who have surprising movie cameos.

Phil Collins

Phil Collins - Hook

Based on this scene alone, Phil Collins could have an acting career if he seriously pursued it. Collins had a brief role as a detective in the 1991 film investigating the disappearance of Peter’s kids. Funny enough, David Crosby and Jimmy Buffett also had small cameos in the film. Watch the cameo here.

Mick Jagger

Mick Jagger - The Bank Job

Clean cut, in a suit, and acting as a bank employee. Yep, it’d be easy to miss Mick Jagger if you were watching The Bank Job. The Rolling Stones frontman had a small role in the 2008 film. Watch Mick talk about the cameo here.

Anthony Kiedis

Anthony Kiedis - Point Break

With all due respect to the Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman, Anthony Kiedis and the rest of his crew got their butt’s kicked in the scene where they all fight at the beach. To his credit, Kiedis was able to get a line in. Watch the cameo here.

Jon Bon Jovi

Jon Bon Jovi - U-571

Jon Bon Jovi had a role as Navy chief engineer Lieutenant Pete Emmett in the 2000 film. Unfortunately, his character drowned when flying debris knocked him overboard during a German U-boat attack. Watch the cameo here.

David Bowie

David Bowie - Zoolander

While Bowie’s appearance in the film wasn’t as subtle as others on this list, it was so phenomenal that it deserves to be mentioned. Bowie served as the honorary judge during the hilarious runway walk off competition between Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Watch the cameo here.

Nancy Wilson

Nancy Wilson - Fast Times at Ridgemont High

The Heart guitarist turned heads in her role as “Beautiful Girl in Car” in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. In the scene, Brad Hamilton (Judge Reinhold), clad in his Captain Hook Fish and Chips uniform, stops at a streetlight where he pulls up next to Wilson. In a convertible, Wilson flashes a smile before she speeds off leaving Brad in the dust. Watch the cameo here.

Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett - Jurassic World

This is literally one of those “if you blink you’ll miss it moments” as Buffett appeared on screen for less than a second. Buffett was friends with the film’s producer, Frank Marshall, and managed to sneak in the movie. During the Pteranodon attack on the park’s main street, Buffett can be seen running away, appropriately, with a margarita in each hand. Watch his cameo here.
