It took entrepreneur, philanthropist and retired supermodel, Iman, four years to navigate the grief caused by the loss of her husband, David Bowie. After a long grieving process, she’s now focused on joy she’s found in remembering him as she releases her very own fragrance, Love Memoir, a tribute to the man she calls her soulmate.
The scent features notes of woodsy vetiver, bergamot, vanilla, blackcurrant and rose — all fragrances reminiscent of Bowie to Iman.
“What I really wanted to create was a fragrance that had a bit of him,” the 66-year-old shared with Hoda Kotb on TODAY. “It created something that was a tribute to love, eternal love, eternal devotion.”
A fitting sentiment for Iman, who says she has no plans to re-marry and chooses to wait until she and her lover are reunited again.
“He’s not my late husband, he’s my husband,” she explained in response to her ever-living love for Bowie. “That’s how I feel about it. This was truly the love of my life and I’ll just wait until I meet him again.”
Iman hopes the fragrance will continue to keep her joyful memories and spirits of David alive until that day comes.
“I think at the end of our days, the only thing we’ll have if we are lucky is our memories.”
