Abramović has partnered with WeTransfer to offer moments of mindfulness as you wait for your files to finish downloading. The artist will quite literally be present.
The innovative large file-sharing site announced their collaboration with the beloved performance artist for a year’s worth of online programs that will be delivered through WeTransfer’s editorial site called, WePresent.
The Abramović Method will be presented in a “digital manifestation,” which will potentially allow 70 million people worldwide to take part in the artist’s well know meditation technique, beginning this summer.
In a recent statement about the project, Abramović says her method is an “exploration of being present in both time and space, in a year when reconnecting with ourselves has never been more important.”
She adds, “I hope everyone participates and thank WeTransfer for giving me the opportunity to share my ‘method’ with you all.”
The collaboration began on Wednesday and will run throughout the summer. Now, when you open the WeTransfer window to begin uploading or downloading files, WePresent’s Guest Curator Series promptly appears. Art from performance artists from around the globe will be displayed.
Marina hand-picked five rising performing artists to be showcased on the platform. Work from Ana Prvački, Maurício Ianês, Yiannis Pappas, Terence Koh, and Regina José Galindo will be spotlighted. When user’s click through they will be directed to an in-depth profile of each artist.
WePresent’s Editor in Chief, Holly Fraser shared, “Since the pandemic took hold this time last year, the digital realm has been invaluable in preserving the arts for tomorrow.” She continued, “Our new Guest Curator Series continues WePresent’s digital patronage, as we ask established artists in their field to spotlight emerging talent. We believe this is vital in a world where the arts need support following an unprecedented, challenging period.”
More from the Abramović and WePresent collaboration will roll out in September.
