In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Sting was asked about his feelings about the return of live music. He describes his current mood as “wait-and-see,” but then outlined his desires when he makes his return to the stage.

“Everyone should feel safe — the audience, the artist, the people working the show,” he said. “I’m hoping the vaccines will really start to kick in by the time our show starts. I’m very much in favor of vaccines.”

Sting went on to say he “had no doubt about it” when it came time to get the COVID-19 vaccine. “I’m old enough to remember polio,” he added.

“Kids in my street who were crippled by a disease that was eradicated very quickly by vaccines. So I have no truck with people who doubt their effectiveness.”

He then was asked for his thoughts about his musical peers like Eric Clapton and Van Morrison that have publicly denounced the vaccine. “We’re all entitled to our opinions,” Sting says, “but I think that’s a dangerous thing to be telling people: ‘Don’t trust the vaccines.’ I mean, where does this come from? I’m not sure where the science is to support that.”
