Mayor Richard C. Irvin currently serves as the Mayor of Aurora and is the first African-American mayor of Aurora.
At the urging of the public health department because of his proximity to others who had tested positive, on March 21, 2020 Mayor Richard Irvin took test for the COVID-19 and was soon after diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.
For the next ten days, his battle with COVID-19 was intense and frightening as he experienced shortness of breath, night sweats, tremors and a range of body temperatures from extremely cold to a dangerously high temperature.
He has now put his focus into Aurora’s new campaign – Aurora Stronger at Home, which launched this week to help #FlattenTheCurve and stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
