1979: The Sugar Hill Gang released their self-titled debut in 1979 and Rapper's Delight became hip-hop's first top 40 cross-over hit when they said "a hip-hop, hippie to the hippie".


1987:  Run DMC released the cult favorite "It's Tricky". This jam was the final single off their multi-platinum album. "It's Tricky" got new life in 2020 and went viral with the TikTok "This or That" challenge.

1992: Sir Mix-A-Lot dropped his third album, Mack Daddy and we found out how much Sir-Mix-A-Lot liked big butts with the chart topping single, Baby Got Back.
