Blessed be the new season.
Hulu has released the first look at “The Handmaid’s Tale” upcoming fourth season and it looks as triggering as ever, according to Deadline.
In the new teaser for the Emmy-winning series, Elisabeth Moss returns as June/Offred in the aftermath of the season 3 finale that saw her and her allies safely send children out of the totalitarian nation of Gilead (the country formerly known as the United States of America) to freedom in Canada.
No longer dressed in her ominous red handmaid’s uniform, June makes her way through a blighted urban landscape along with other members of the Resistance.
“Global sanctions on Gilead are mounting as the latest wave of violence continues,” an announcer on “Radio Free-America” is heard saying.
Clips show June assembling weapons as an all out war against appears to finally be on the precipice.
"She's out there planning who knows what kind of atrocities to visit upon our righteous nation," handmaid overseer Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) says of June. "Find her and bring her to me."
The trailer ends with an image of a Canadian flag waving on a pier insinuating June may make it across the border.
"My name is June Osbourne," Moss says in a voiceover. "I am a citizen of the United States."
In addition to Moss and Dowd, the series features Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Bradley Whitford and Max Minghella.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel, season 4 of “The Handmaid’s Tale” will premiere with 3 new episodes on April 28th on Hulu.
