Brace yourself, hurricane season is approaching.
If the professionals are to be believed, we face a heightened risk this year for hurricanes because of the weakening Bermuda high. Which is not as fun as you think. The 'Bermuda high' is a high-pressure zone that pushed storm south of us the past few years ... so a weakened Bermuda high, means more chances storms hit South Florida.
Right now the prediction is the Atlantic will produce 16 to 20 named storms this year. Those figures are above the 30 year average. No worries, right?
Forecasters also call for 3-5 of them to become major hurricanes (that's a cat 3 and up).
