Lorde is back. It might not be new music but her @onionringsworldwide Instagram account has been revived, and that is just as important. The platform where she reviews her various onion ring rendezvouses has been resurrected after three years of inactivity.

Now in 2020, the not so anonymous reviewer is back with four new greasy posts. She explains, “This reviewer stopped ordering onion rings after her identity was leaked to the press in the great debacle of 2017.” Lorde adds, “I’d get a smile and a wink from wait staff— it got embarrassing, you know? But it occurred to me that some things are too good to let the internet spoil.”
Her four reviews come from local spots in New Zealand. The singer rates her onion rings on a five-point scale, a five being the best. Her onion ring escapades elicit comments such as “Great crunch, full distinct rings,” to “Did I miss the crunch of a true battered ring biting into this? Perhaps. But it was perfectly seasoned, and brought joy.”

Lorde is known for being particularly quiet on her social media platforms. On her @lordemusic account, the artist’s last post dates from 2018. However during New Zealand’s election this year she hopped on the platform to encourage fans to get out the vote.
During an interview, Lorde shared, “part of what made me peace out on social media, apart from feeling like I was losing my free will, was the massive amounts of stress I was feeling about our planet, about systemic racism, and about police brutality in this country."
Lorde has also recently shared that she’s chosen a title for her third album, which will serve as a follow up to Melodrama. She was struck with the idea for the name of her album during a 2019 trip to Antarctica. In 2021 Lorde plans to release a 100-page book that documents the whole trip through images captured during her time there.
