Nobody puts Baby in a corner.
A “Dirty Dancing” sequel has officially been announced, per Deadline.
The sequel comes 33 years after the romance film’s theatrical release in 1987.
Jennifer Grey, who played Frances “Baby” Houseman, will once again have the time of her life as she is set to star in the film and serve as executive producer.
Little is currently know about the plot of the highly-anticipated sequel or what Grey’s role will be, but Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer promises it will be "exactly the kind of romantic, nostalgic movie that the franchise’s fans have been waiting for and that have made it the biggest-selling library title in the Company’s history."
The original raked in almost $220 million at the global box office.
Rumors of a sequel starring Grey began swirling in July after she signed on to star in an untitled movie set in the 1990.
Following the sequel confirmation, Feltheimer called the film "one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood."
The 60-year-old actress first shot to stardom alongside the late Patrick Swayze, who played Johnny Castle, a dance instructor at a resort in the Catskills where Baby and her family spent the summer. Their romance resulted in one of the most iconic dances of all time, earning the film an Oscar for the song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”
Swayze passed away in 2009 at 57 from pancreatic cancer.
The franchise also produced a prequel titled "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights" in 2004 in which Swayze made a small appearance as Johnny.
A television remake with "Little Miss Sunshine" actress Abigail Breslin as Baby aired on ABC in 2017.
