Jessica Simpson wants people to know she’s doing just fine.
The pop star had a Pottery Barn ad starring her and her daughter make the internet rounds recently, as fans were worried about the fashion mogul’s appearance and speech throughout. In response, Simpson posted a video to her social media responding to the concerns and claiming she’s currently five years sober.

“As much as a I have learned to block out destructive noise… peoples’ comments and judgements can still hurt deeply with their incessant nagging ‘you will never be good enough,’” she wrote in the post. “The most important thing I have learned through the last 5 yrs without alcohol being a guard for escapism, is that I CAN and ALWAYS WILL get through it.”
Simpson wrote she woke up, “anxious and insecure but also angry and defensive.”
She then performed a song.
“Nothing and nobody will rob me of my joy,” she finished. “You might come close but it is mine to own. Yours should be too.”
Simpson originally shared the Pottery Barn Kids advertisement last week. People in the comments were concerned about her weight loss and appearance of slurred speech.
Simpson has often spoke openly about her struggles with weight and the public’s perception of it.
