In an interview with Terri Seymour on “Extra,” Simpson was asked if after all these years she’s gotten used to the scrutiny.

“Oh, gosh, no,” she replied. “Would any woman?”

Simpson then told Seymour a story that an iconic actress relayed to her while she was making her acting debut in the 2005 remake movie of “The Dukes of Hazzard” as as Daisy Duke. She donned Daisy’s iconic jean shorts and crop top for the character as well.

“Lynda Carter warned me on the set of ‘Dukes of Hazzard,’” she recounted. “She was like, ‘I will always be Wonder Woman and compared to Wonder Woman, and that’s what you’re doing here as Daisy Duke. Just know the words ‘Daisy Duke’ will follow you for the rest of your career.’”

Simpson continued, “I’ve been criticized, and it hurts, but I’ve been every weight and I’ve been proud of it.”

“I decided, ‘Okay, everybody is going to talk about my weight all the time, I might as well make money off of it and turn it into a business of selling clothes and acceptance,’” Simpson said. She launched fashion line, The Jessica Simpson Collection, in 2005.

Simpson continued in the interview by saying she got in touch with a nutritionist after the arrival of her third child, Birdie, in 2019, to take a look at and amend how she was eating.

“I feel like my old self before I had children and all the hormones going wild. I feel younger, actually,” she said.

In addition to Birdie, 3, Simpson is mother to Maxwell, 10, and shares Ace, 9, with husband Eric Johnson.

Earlier this summer Simpson posted a photo of herself wearing a bikini after her weight loss saying it was a major moment she never thought “could or would happen.” She ended her caption writing “I enjoyed a good proud cry today.”
