Ducks win, Beavers lose and Nov. 27th may be less sweet

The rivalry game might not carry as much significance after last weekend

It was the tale of two weekends for both Oregon schools, as the college football season beings it’s descent into conference championship speculation. The Ducks handled Colorado easily with a 52-29 win at Autzen Stadium. The offense had hints of early 2010’s explosiveness that fans have been missing since Chip Kelly’s departure. Meanwhile, the Beavers couldn’t quite keep up with Cal, losing 39-25.

There was a scenario in which both teams winning out could meet on November 27th for a rivalry game that would decide the Pac-12 North winner. That doesn’t seem realistic any longer.

The Beavers face a mixed road of games before that date.
Colorado and Stanford might be considered probable wins, but Arizona State has the best record in the Pac-12 South. No guarantees OSU could win at Reser. The Ducks are also faced with some tough opponents near the end of this season.

Washington State has shown flashes of talent and could be trouble, while Oregon will have to play Washington in Seattle. It’s a difficult environment during an important rivalry game. Anything could happen!

College football fans in this state were hoping for a rivalry game that would compare to the 2009 War of the Roses: Win and get into the Rose Bowl. But considering the amount of success both teams are having, I’m sure both fan bases and happy to be in their respective positions. Oregon State is one win away from making a bowl game, while Oregon is still in the mix for a college football playoff appearance.

Life is still good for Ducks and Beavers.
