As well as the Houston Astros have played throughout 2021, the offense has been on a tiny bit of a skid since August began, unable to exceed five runs through nine games this month despite averaging a fair amount higher than five runs per game throughout the first four months of the season. And while the offense has missed Alex Bregman's presence ever since he exited the team's June 16 matchup against the Rangers with a strained quadricep, his teammates and fans probably want him back now more than ever.
Unfortunately, his expected return has been pushed back as things aren't quite right at this juncture, and he's both optimistic and frustrated at the whole ordeal.
However, he's going to pull out all the stops in an attempt to get back on the field in as timely a manner as possible. One way in which he's doing so is by utilizing other resources in the area, specifically the Houston Rockets. As Marc Berman of Fox 26 noted, Bregman shared that he is looking to use equipment available at Toyota Center that could expedite his recovery and eliminate soft tissue problems. As expected, the Rockets are more than happy to oblige.
"Alex and I spoke a little while ago and we are going to make whatever he needs available to him to help his recovery," said Patrick Fertitta, the son of Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta (via Berman). "We love the Astros. So anything we can ever do for any of the guys we are happy to."
This idea of moving across sports in an effort to deal with injuries isn't new, and it's generally a smart idea. Just a couple of days ago, it was revealed that the Dallas Cowboys reached out to both the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers to get advice regarding the best way to deal with Dak Prescott's shoulder injury.
It's safe to say that both teams will do whatever it takes to get their respective stars back in action and feeding into the winning formula, and fans will be happier the sooner that can happen.
