Where does Kayvon land in the draft?

It’s that time of year for NFL fans where the Super Bowl has passed and no legitimate football is to be played for the next seven months (Yes, we’re including you, XFL). That means we can all geek out on draft boards! And there’s no better board to argue about than Tody McShay’s. The ESPN personality ranked released his mock draft 2.0 and many Duck fans noticed defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux dropping to No. 5.

You’re trying to tell me there are five players worth drafting over this freak athlete? EXPLAIN YOURSELF, MCSHAY!!!

His tape is up and down, hence a slight slide to No. 5, but he’d immediately elevate a New York pass rush that had 34 sacks (tied for 22nd) last season. And he’d perfectly complement Leonard Williams and Azeez Ojulari, the team’s 2021 second-rounder who led the defense with 8.0 sacks in his rookie year.

The Giants may very well need a stud at defensive end, but so do the four teams that preceded them in the draft order. There’s an argument to be made Jacksonville should draft offensive line to protect Trevor Lawrence, but that’s a risk taking an OL at No. 1. Detroit always needs help everywhere. The Texans are a barn fire that needs some talent to extinguish their disappointment, and the Jets are the Jets. They need dudes.

I understand why McShay may think Thibodeaux is an effort risk to pick in the top 3, but his physical talent and playmaking abilities are just too overwhelming to ignore. Whichever of those four teams pass on him, it’s their loss.
