JAY, who last released an album in 2017, has won a total of 23 times and until this year was previously tied with legendary producer/composer Quincy Jones at 80 nominations. That said, with no nominations this year for Jones, the second place spot was nabbed by someone else.

Now standing in second place for most GRAMMY nominations is Paul McCartney, previously tied for second place with Beyoncé, with this years’ nominations has passed her as as well as Jones, after earning another two for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album for a total of 81 overall nominations.

Overall, Jon Batiste takes the lead for most 2022 GRAMMY with a total of 11 nods, including for Record of the Year and Album of the Year. Speaking of Album of the Year, guess which two artists are also up for the momentous prize… Kanye West and Taylor Swift. #thedrama.

Anyway, for another fun fact, this will be the first GRAMMYS ceremony since the Recording Academy announced that it eliminated nomination review committees, so winners will be determined by a majority vote.

This means that "for the first time in 30 years, today's nominations will have been decided soley by our voting membership," Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said. Additionally, the number of nominees in the top categories was also expanded to ten, a change Mason described as a "way to cast a wider net" and "embrace the spirit of inclusion.”

Airing live on CBS, the GRAMMYs will take place on Monday, January 31, 2022.
