FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Cowboys are planning to bring back wide receiver Allen Hurns next season, according to 105.3 The Fan sources.
Scoop: Not only do #Cowboys plan on picking up Allen Hurns 2019 option ($4M base) between now and March 12 ... @A1hurns , despite that gruesome ankle injury from Jan 5, is back on field here at The Star working out. Wow! pic.twitter.com/PHOVDcco2h
— mike fisher ✭ (@fishsports) March 8, 2019We're reporting that the Cowboys current plan is to pick up Hurns' $4 million base salary option for 2019 between now and 3 p.m. on March 13, which is the final day of the NFL league year.
Hurns' season ended after he suffered a gruesome ankle injury in the wild-card win over Seattle. He quickly underwent surgery and told the NFL Network in an interview shortly after the game that he'll "be good to go to start the 2019 season."
As a testament to that opinion, 105.3 The Fan has learned Hurns was recently at The Star in Frisco working out with Tavon Austin, who also happens to be someone the Cowboys have an interest in bringing back for next season.
The Cowboys signed the 27-year-old to a two-year deal worth $12 million last spring after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Hurns had 21 catches for 309 yards with two touchdowns in 2018. His aforementioned $4 million salary in 2019 will not be guaranteed, with the Cowboys facing just $1.25 million in dead money should they opt to eventually release him before the start of the NFL season.
