Cowboys owner Jerry Jones took the longer-winded route, unlike his son Stephen Jones who simply answered 'yes' when asked if there was enough 'pie' left to sign the three stars after Smith got a five-year, $64 million deal.

"The reason there is pie left is because we have kept some left. That's why we're going to be where we are because we're going to have some pie left for others," Jones said before touching on the importance of being a Cowboy when it comes to future career earnings outside of football.

NFL reporter Jane Slater followed up those comments by asking if Smith's deal affected the amount of 'pie' was left to pay Cooper, Prescott and Elliott.

"There is less pie left. Make no bones about it," Jones said, before repeating "there is less pie."

Jones was also calculated in his comments praising Smith for taking what's perceived as a team-friendly deal.

"You have to allocate your resources wisely to keep and have all of those players. That's called team-building," Jones said. "And I will assure you that this was about (the) team. Our goal is to build the best team and it takes cooperation from both parties when you're doing agreements.
