DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - With the Dallas Cowboys having one of their best regular-season starts in years, owner Jerry Jones is keeping quiet on extending his head coach's contract.
"I'm not ignoring your question, but I certainly wouldn't want to respond in any way because that's just not what we'd want to do relative to that area of our business" Cowboys onwer/GM Jerry Jones told The Fan's Shan & RJ when they asked if head coach Jason Garrett's contract would be extended.
Garrett has been the head coach for the Cowboys since 2011. He won the NFL's Coach of the Year award in 2016 after guiding the Cowboys to a 13-3-0 record and a berth in the playoffs.
No other NFC coach has more wins than Garrett over the last three seasons, with 29 wins over the last three years.
So will Garrett be extended at, or before, the end of this season? Only Jones knows.
Jones however was happy with how the team has been performing so far this season. Not only giving credit to the offense, but the defense as well.
"A lot of credit should go to Rod, and the guys that really develop these guys (defensive players)" said Jones.
When asked around Robert Quinn making his debut for the Cowboys, Jones was quick to compliment his performance against the Dolphins.
"He's a veteran, but plays with the exuberance of a rookie" said Jones.
Quinn recorded a sack in his debut for Dallas after an offseason trade from Miami and a two-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancers.
Jones: "All this sends messages as we move forward in the NFL." Says with facing the @Eagles twice this season, the Cowboys have to let them know they can do more. @1053thefan
