DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Al Horford became one of the latest star players to opt out of his contract on Tuesday, making him free to sign with any team when free agency begins on June 30.
The Boston Celtics big man would have made $30.1 million had he opted-in for the 2019-20 season, Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

#Mavs have great respect for #Celtics FA Al Horford but at 33 he doesn’t ideally fit the rebuild timeline here. pic.twitter.com/wwJehfahDp

But is there a fit with the Dallas Mavericks?

Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer reported today that 'the Mavericks are considered the favorites' to land Horford. O'Connor added that both the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers are also in on Horford.

Re #Celtics #Horford opt-out of $3Om - It’s being suggested to me that he probably has a deal already set up elsewhere pic.twitter.com/1Yzr0WrvGG

But is O'Connor right? Sources tell 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher that Horford's age is 'less than ideal' as the team desires to build a young nucleus around Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Fish added the same sources are telling him the 33-year-old former Florida Gator likely has a deal lined up with another team.

Stay tuned.
