Bowlsby said in a statement that teams will have access to just 125 total tickets per school, which will be designated to guests of the student-athletes themselves.

“It’s been an interesting day," Bowlslby told reporters. "We are announcing today that beginning with tomorrow’s tournament games, we will be implementing limited access. Teams will have access to 125 tickets. AD’s have decided that tickets will go to guests of student-athletes.”

This decision comes just hours after NCAA President Mark Emmert announced that fans would be barred from attending all NCAA tournament games, in both the men's and women's tournaments, which in itself was a result of many state and local governments placing restrictions on large gatherings of people.

“The NCAA continues to assess the impact of COVID-19 in consultation with public health officials and our COVID-19 advisory panel," Emmert said. "Based on their advice and my discussions with the NCAA Board of Governors, I have made the decision to conduct our upcoming championship events, including Division 1 men’s and women’s basketball tournaments, with only essential staff and limited family attendance.”

The Big 12 Tournament is scheduled to start on Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri at the Sprint Center.
