DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is a big fan of Luka Doncic and believes his jerseys could soon be worn by "black kids in the hood."

The rookie has taken the league by storm and Barkley showered praise upon him by comparing him to Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Larry Bird and Manu Ginobili.

"Let me tell you something, that boy Doncic, he's the real deal," Barkley said Thursday night, per Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News. "As we used to say in my day, that's a bad white boy. I mean, he's not there yet, but we're getting really close to little black kids in the 'hood wearing his jersey.

"Real close. It used to be Larry Bird, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, (Manu) Ginobili, that was it. Doncic, if he keeps playing like this, we're going to see his number in the 'hood."

Barkley also praised the Mavericks for their acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis and said the deal could lead them to being a championship contender should they get a third star to come play with the young Europeans.

"They got two young studs. They got cap space. Probably the best owner, player-friendly owner, in the league. If they get one of those free agents they can change the balance of power in the NBA really quick. Especially if Porzingis comes back healthy," Barkley said.

Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Demarcus Cousins, and Jimmy Butler are the biggest names that will be on the free agent market this coming offseason.
