DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - In the aftermath of Gerald McCoy's release, the Dallas Cowboys wasted little time in filling the extra roster spot, activating defensive tackle Dontari Poe, and signing offensive tackle Pace Murphy.

The moves were first reported by ESPN's Todd Archer.

Dontari Poe was activated off the physically unable to perform list after passing his physical. He had been working off to the side the first few weeks of camp. The Cowboys signed offensive tackle Pace Murphy, who replaces Gerald McCoy on the roster.... https://t.co/ODLpx50oTW

Poe, who was finally activated on Tuesday after passing a physical, will likely immediately figure into the Cowboys' first-team defensive line rotation, as they attempt to find a way to replace the project impact of McCoy.

Also, per Archer's report, Murphy's signing was seen as a need due to the injury issues linger for La'el Collins, Cameron Erving, and Brandon Knight.

A Houston, Texas native, Murphy previously spent time with Los Angeles Rams, San Fransico 49ers, and Kansas City Cheifs.

More recently, Murphy was a second-round draft pick of the Dallas Renegades in phase two in the 2020 XFL Draft. However, Murphy's contract was terminated when the XFL suspended its operations in April of this year.
