DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown will miss the remainder of the 2019 season with a torn tricep, head coach Jason Garrett announced in his press conference on Monday.

Brown suffered the injury in the second half of the Cowboys 35-27 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday and is set to have surgery to repair it.

Garrett did not reveal whether or not the Cowboys would pursue a free agent corner to replace Brown but said that the team will evaluate what they have and go through that process.

With just three corners with significant game experience on the roster as of Monday afternoon, however, it is reasonable to expect an outside solution to be brought in at some point this week to fill a depth role in the defensive backfield.

Jourdan Lewis, who has had major impacts when given the necessary playing time, will likely be the first player called on to step into Brown's spot. Lewis has 19 tackles, an interception, and a fumble return for a touchdown.

Through the first 10 games for the Cowboys, Brown had 17 tackles and five pass deflections, allowing 13 receptions on 22 targets to his receiver, had zero interceptions, and an overall grade of 63.9 on Pro Football Focus. Lewis, meanwhile, has an overall grade of 79.8 in his reserve role.

Brown is in the final year of his contract with the Cowboys, and he is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the 2020 offseason.

In other injury news, Garrett said that right tackle La'el Collins' knee injury is similar to what he had suffered previously, and is expected to play against New England next Sunday.
