DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback Cooper Rush agreed to sign a restricted free agent tender worth $2.1 million dollars with the team on Wednesday, locking down their depth at the position heading into camp this spring.

ESPN's Todd Archer was first on the report.

Rush has been the backup in Dallas since the 2017 season, completing one pass for two yards in five games.

the 26-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in the preseason, however throwing for eight touchdowns and four intereptions (all of which came in the final two preseason games of 2018), and totaling 1,154 yards in 11 preseason appearances.

Rush also completed 63.4-percent of his passes in the preseason, including a game in which he connected on 12 of 13 passes with two touchdowns in 2017.

With all that said, Rush will most certainly have competition for the position in spring camp, as the Cowboys look to solidify their depth behind Dak Prescott.
