Canady's opt-out was first reported by Mike Garafalo of NFL Network and later confirmed by 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher.
The Cowboys signed the former Jets and Ravens corner to a one-year deal this offseason.
He appeared in 13 games last season (3 starts) between New York and Baltimore.
Had the 26-year-old made the team out of training camp, he would have served in a backup role behind several players. Among them are Chidobe Awuzie, Anthony Brown, Jourdan Lewis, Trevon Diggs and Reggie Robinson II.
