Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy: ‘Michael Gallup is a No. 1 receiver in my view’

FRISCO (105.3 The Fan) - When discussing goals for the 2020 NFL season last week, Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl pass-catcher Amari Cooper used simple words to express an extravagant expectation.

All the talk this offseason has centered around two of those receivers, Cooper and Oklahoma rookie CeeDee Lamb, but what about Michael Gallup?

105.3 The Fan's Jeff Cavanaugh has always been a strong proponent of the Cowboys third-year receiver out of Colorado State, and it appears head coach Mike McCarthy is also on board.

'Michael Gallup is a No. 1 receiver in my book. We're very fortunate to have 3 WRs who are at that level.' - #Cowboys coach McCarthy

"Well, let's make it clear. Michael Gallup's a No. 1 receiver in my view. I think we're very fortunate to have three players with that level of potential to go out and play at that level," McCarthy said. "The reality of it is ... everybody wants to look at numbers but really it comes down to opportunities. I've been so impressed with not only what Michael's done on film last year. He was definitely one of the players that really jumped off the video during the offseason study ... he's primed to take that next step."

Gallup had a career-high 1,107 yards receiving and six touchdowns in 2019.
