DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After Terrance Williams had the worst season of his career, the Cowboys elected to decline their option on the wide receiver, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Williams, who signed a four-year extension in 2017, was set to earn a base salary of $3.5 million in 2019 and $4 million in 2020. Williams played on 39 offensive snaps in three total games last season after having 53 catches for 568 yards in 2017. He had just two catches for 18 yards in the three games.

Williams had a troubled season on and off the field in 2018, beginning with a foot injury that required surgery in March. He was arrested on a charge of public intoxication in May after police responded to an accident involving his car and found him riding an electric bicycle on a road near his home.

Williams was eventually placed on injured reserve and was suspended three games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy since the incident involved an intoxication charge.

Dallas has Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup under contract for 2019 as their top two wide receivers, but the Cowboys have work to do as Cole Beasley is likely to move on in free agency this offseason.
