DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Cowboys secured a key piece of their secondary on Wednesday, locking down cornerback Anthony Brown with a three-year, $15.5 million deal.

Brown played in just nine games this past season, after a tricep injury forced him out for the remainder of the 2019 campaign.

A sixth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Brown has well outplayed his draft status during his four seasons with the team, appearing in 54 games, starting 36, and intercepting four passes, with 32 passes defended in his Cowboys career.

Brown has also amassed 172 total tackles over his four years, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, and three forced fumbles.

The move allows Dallas some breathing room in a secondary that had been decimated up to this point on the free-agent market after the losses of Jeff Heath to the Las Vegas Raiders, and Byron Jones to the Miami Dolphins.

The Cowboys also signed veteran corner Maurice Canady earlier on Wednesday afternoon, adding to their depth at both corner and all special teams.
